Mental Skills Training: Foundations
The Goal
Build skills you can actually use when the moment gets difficult.
Mental Performance Is Trainable

Mental performance isn't about being mentally tough all the time.

You do not need to eliminate nerves, stop difficult thoughts, or somehow become confident before you can perform well.

You need skills. Skills that help you recognize what is happening, understand what you need, and choose a response that helps you move forward.

What You'll Learn

Five Foundational Skills. One Connected System.

Each skill serves a different purpose. Together, they create a practical foundation for preparing, responding, reflecting, and improving.

Notice Direct Regulate Prepare Respond
Journal Writing

Build Awareness

Notice patterns in your thoughts, emotions, preparation, and responses so you have useful information to work with.

Goal Setting

Create Direction

Build meaningful goals, identify practical steps, and connect your daily effort to where you want to go.

Relaxation

Regulate Activation

Use breathing, tension awareness, and relaxation techniques to regain control when pressure begins to rise.

Imagery

Prepare the Mind

Mentally rehearse situations, actions, and responses so important moments feel more familiar before they happen.

Self Talk

Guide Your Response

Recognize automatic thoughts and develop language that helps you stay grounded and connected to the next useful action.

Module 106 • Implementation

Knowing the tools is only the beginning.

The final module helps you connect the skills, build simple routines, and learn how to choose the right tool for the situation instead of trying to use everything at once.
